====== 13th polymake conference and developer meeting ====== === January 21st, 2022 === ===== Corona policy ===== UPDATE: Due to the alarming increase in the number of infections with the Omicron variant, we have decided to move the workshop to digital entirely. We currently plan to have the morning part in person and additionally stream it via zoom. The afternoon part will be digital only. The in person part of the conference will be held under the [[https://www.berlin.de/en/news/coronavirus/6941461-6098215-2G-option-proof-must-be-digitally-verifi.en.html|2G rules]] of Berlin. ===== polymake conference ===== On Friday there will be an invited talk and several tutorials, demos and helpdesk sessions for polymake users. Participants are encouraged to use a laptop with an installed version of polymake in the tutorials. If you have any polymake problem you want to get help during the workshop please describe your problem during the sign up process.\\ ===Registration:=== Please fill out the [[workshops:workshop0122:registration|registration form]]! ===Schedule:===

=== Abstracts === == Statistics of limit root bundles and towards F-Theory MSSMs == String theory is a leading candidate for a theory of quantum gravity, i.e. a theory which explains all natural phenomena in a unified framework. The major short-coming of string theory is that is has many (infinitely many?) solutions and to this date it is not known if one of them describes the universe that we observe on a daily basis. Finding (or disproving the existience of) such a solution, is often considered a holy grail of string phenomenology. In this talk, I will explain how this quest leads to an interesting class of one Quadrillion toric geometries (the so-called Quadrillion F-theory Standard models or QSMs), the study of root bundles on algebraic curves and how modern computer implementations can help to provide answers towards this holy grail of string phenomenology. This talk is based on the following works: - Statistics of Limit Root Bundles Relevant for Exact Matter Spectra of F-Theory MSSMs (with M. Cvetič and M. Liu): arXiv:2104.08297 - Root Bundles and Towards Exact Matter Spectra of F-theory MSSMs (with M. Cvetič, R, Donagi, M. Liu, M.
